In spring 2014 saxophonist / flutist Heinrich von Kalnein and composer / pianist Michael Abene started working as a duo. About 15 years earlier they had met for the first time both working with and for the then newly founded JBBG – Jazz Bigband Graz. Michael’s composition “Aftermath” even made it on Heinrich’s and Horst-Michael Schaffer’s first produced CD “A Life Affair” (2004 Universal Music Austria). In working as a duo both draw their main inspiration from compositions of their own, although Jimi Hendrix’s “The Wind Cries Mary” worked out as a nice cover version. Their debut CD “Dreamliner” was released October 19, 2015.
